Chicken Soup for a leading soul (a series on leadership)

Generally I write on strategic management. Leadership could play a big part in this. I am going to write a series of hubs of leadership, probably of 10 hubs and this one will count to be the first one of them. I am pretty sure that after reading the whole series you will be quite abnormal than other usual leaders who just lead. Make sure you follow the series. Let’s get started.  

What is Leadership actually?

I went on to search the Wikipedia about leadership and found a long formal essay on leadership telling that leadership is a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. (There were a dozen more)

But, I created a simple precise definition to help me understand the true meaning of leadership.

Leadership is the art of being something more than your followers. Leadership is not just about leading; it’s about being a leader. Leadership is about being something more over and above general public, and that’s how you lead them.

Every one of us wants to be leaders. But we all can’t become! Why? Because of our influence on others; some people have bigger while some have smaller influence of people, and that’s how public categorises leaders.

What is the need of leadership?

Leadership is the core of everything. You need a leader everywhere. Whether it’s just planning a school picnic or taking hardcore business decisions, you will find leaders everywhere. 

You need leadership to help your organization, to help create an eye of honor and lot more of what you want to achieve. For anything you will ever want to achieve, you will need leadership.
